Apple MacBook Logic Board Failure Pro & Air

What’s a Apple LogicBoard?

The Mac Book logic board is analogous to a PC "MOTHERBOARD" – That is computer's main circuit board. It contains the central processing unit (CPU), main system memory, and circuitry that controls the HDD, ODD, keyboard, monitor, and peripherals.

If Mac Book is not accidently damaged like liquid spill or broken then what could be the reason the logic board gets faulty by itself let me explain on this issue. Whether you have a Mac or PC laptop, three causes lead the list: heat, solder, and static problems. Some failures result from faults in manufacturing, as with some gently-used units that fail only weeks after purchase. Along with this dusty environment and moisture could deal with great damage of any logic board.
·         Specific generations of Mac Books (like the Mac Book Pro 15", early) are associated with serious graphics board problems. Replacement of the board doesn't guarantee that the problem won't occur.
·         Extreme heat can cause solder on the logic board to soften over time, causing problematic electrical connections. Lead-free solder which is used on the Mac Book as well as new manufactured pc is notably weaker than lead soled.
·          Mac Book Pro uses lead-free solder with tin. This increases the chance of developing "tin whiskers." These short tendrils can eventually cause unintended electrical connections - especially if a lot of heat is involved.

However, certain batches of Mac Books seem to have higher incidences of logic/graphic board problems:

·         Mac Book Pro 2007-2008: A portion of these machines had a problem the NVIDIA chip. An Apple Extended Warranty Program fixed many units, though the program has ended.
·         Mac Book Pro 2010, 2015: The mid-year batch exhibited a higher incidence of logic board graphic overheating problems.
·         Mac Book Pro 2012 15": The early batch of these machines is showing overheating problem.
·         Mac Book Pro Retina 2013, 15": A spike in heat and logic board issues .

DIFFERENT COMMONE WAYS OF FIXING LOGIC BOARD PROBLEMS

     1. "HEAT UP AND FIX"
One of the most common fixing the logic board involves heating up the logic board, which causes the solder to soften. Fixes like "solder reflow" may succeed in the short term, but usually end up lasting around four months.

Several Service Provide have posted similar reflow fixes:
A:-Cooking the Macbook
B:-Baking my Mac Book
C:-Heat gun or Reflow
This all is wrong for logic board these all are wrong process

     2. CLEANING A LOGIC BOARD
A few have had success cleaning the logic/graphics boards of the affected machine. The results may last longer than "solder reflow" methods, albeit with major risk.

One promising option for cleaning a failing or failed Apple logic board is to use ultrasonic cleaning methods. This is a new and largely invalidated solution, but it's potentially promising.

Heating up the BGA chips or graphic ic "Cooking the books" (or solder reflow) may solve your computer woes over the short term, but the problem will probably recur.  Cleaning the logic board is promising, but you still have to disassemble the logic board, and results are uncertain at this point.

By far, the most reliable, long-lasting solution I've found is to "BGA reball" a computer. ("BGA" means "ball grid array - a widely used method to surface mount computer
components). BGA rebelling involves completely removing the graphics chip, cleaning off the old solder, and reapplying new solder. This takes considerable expertise and access to sophisticated gear. It's important to do your homework to find a top-notch rebelling vendor.

Mac Book fixing technique on various issues:

As long as I am experienced to know many of logic board repairing technician
They think apple logic board use normal procedure of LVDS (low voltage data signaling) voltage supply to the screen. However any apple logic motherboard use advances booster technology to power up the led light. Usually in normal pc’s LVDS supply voltage is normally gained by adopter or battery supply voltage which is known as VIN. Apple MacBook with no backlight is usually cause by LVDS BOOSTER regulator or sometime the regulator is not getting proper input voltage as it is requires.
It is noticed in some case that the screen assembly is faulty however it’s a combination of couple of things like display cable and lcd screen. In order to notify the problem which cause dim display the display cable needed to be checked physically either it could be broken or the pin would be damage.
THE FOLLOING STEPS YOU MUST TRY BEFORE JUMPING ANY CONCLUSION;
Diagnostics
Make sure that the rest of the computer is working. If you have an external display handy, plug that in and use FN+F7 to activate it (you may not need to hold down the Fn key depending on your Mac’s settings). If you can see your desktop on the external display then the problem is with the display – if not, you computer may have NO DISPLAY problems. If you have VNC set up, you could try this too.
1. Brightness setting
Sometimes it’s the basic things – your brightness might be set to minimum. Use FN+F2 to turn up the brightness (you may not need to hold down the FN key depending on your Mac’s settings).
2. Zap your PRAM and SMC reset
One trick to deal with minor hardware problems is to reset your PRAM and NVRAM. To do this, power down your Mac, then, turn it on and hold down Command+Option+P+R at the same time, until your Mac makes the boot  noise again. Command is the Apple key, Option may be labelled as ‘alt’ on your computer.
3. Reset your Energy Saver settings
You may need to use an external monitor or VNC for this. While you Mac is booted, open System Preferences and choose Energy Saver. Under ‘Put the displays to sleep’, set the timer to 1 minute, and then wait 1 minute for your machine to go to sleep. Wake it up, and hopefully your screen will spring back to life.

There are verity of problems in Mac book stop charging like no green light on adaptor and working on battery, green light not turning orange which mean battery is not charging, adopter light is turning orange but charging percentage is stagnant, Mac running slow on battery etc, then the solution would be different in each individual symptom. There are two possibilities that apple logic board stop charging battery or X mark on battery icon on the screen. First battery gone dead or logic board could be faulty. Apple store don’t repair any logic board if you visit their you will be estimated to replace the new logic board which is really dare. Mac logic board charging circuit is a bunch of components which is responsible to since the battery that how much voltage and current is being used and also how much voltage and current is gained by charger.

TRY TO RESOLVE THE CHARGING PROBLEM BY USING FOLLOWING STEPS;

Connect the power adapter to the Mac. On the Mac Book keyboard, hold down the Shift+Control+Option keys and the Power button at the same time. Release all keys and the power button at the same time – the little light on the MagSafe adapter may change colors that indicate the SMC has reset
NVRAM RESET
2.    Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (), Option, P, and R.
3.    Turn on your Mac.
4.    Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys immediately after you hear the startup sound.
5.    Hold these keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for a second time.
6.    Release the keys.

1.    Check your battery:-  Laptop batteries typically last a few years before they need to be replaced, depending on usage. If your laptop isn’t charging, you should probably check. (Note: If you follow the instructions in the linked article you will see “Battery Condition” is listed right below the Cycle Count.)
2.    Use new MagSafe/AC adapter:-  If your battery is in good shape then you may want to verify that your AC adapter is functioning properly. Try plugging it into different outlets (to make sure that’s not the issue either) and using a different adapter to charge your laptop. If you find that your laptop successfully starts taking a charge with a different adapter then it may be time to replace the one you have.
3.     Charging port is needed to repair:-  If your battery is good and your AC adapter checks out, then your Mac book Pro’s charging port may be dirty or damaged. Check that there are no visible signs and if it looks OK, get it checked out by a repair specialist for an accurate diagnoses.

Whenever liquid spill on apple Mac Book one should remove charger as soon as possible and try to remove back cover of Mac Book and disconnect the battery from logic board. Its good idea to avoided major short circuit in logic board now let your logic board dry with hear dryer if its available or expose it in sun light for a day  and without fixing battery use charger to check to start your Mac again if it on then congratulate! If it doesn’t then avoid delay to visit an expert technician because liquid deal with great damage your logic board list you need to replace with new logic board.

It is very important in the case of liquid damage to clean it as soon as possible. Turn it off and if possible remove the battery. This will save it from short-circuits in logic board. It would be recommendable to go a professional service centre to get it diagnosed and get it clean. This will save the life of the computer.
Recommendation in case of liquid spill occurs;
1.    . Turn your Mac book off by long pressing power button
2.    Remove battery (if you can)
3.    Leave your laptop upside down for at least 24 hours
Main rule – don’t try to turn you Mac book on. Even after 24 hours it is better to give your laptop to specialists to check if everything is working fine. If you will try to switch it on – it can shorten more parts and repairs will cost you a lot more

Apple MacBook Air A1466 no power on solution

Mac Book Air A1466 EMC 2925 Logic Board no 820-00165 -A problem not getting ON, no green light appears on dc jack (magsafe) solved by replacing SMC chip. First I use Smc chip of 820-3437-b everything working fine but no sound come.  Actual problem was on the board one wire circuit signal not coming out from Smc controller Io chip. The only solution of such problem to replace Smc Io chip with the same part no of Apple logic board because it is always programmed from apple manufacture.

Apple MacBook Pro A1286 no back light solution by replacing power bank ic.

A1286 15" no back light has been successfully done by replacing power bank IC. Absolutely outstanding experience! Such models like 15” and 17” usually use power bank chip to enable the back light driver ic whereas 13” a1278 and MacBook Air  don’t use power bank chipset . Usually it has been seen that no back light occurs due to LP8550 that is dedicated for back light driver and the enabling signal voltage comes through SMC controller IO chip. 15” A1286 part no 820-2915-b has a pawer bank chip in stead of SMC chip in order to enabling the back light chip LP8550 .enable
